Responsibilities
  • Operate Ultrasound equipment to assist radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.
  • Use customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures and protect them, yourself, and other staff from radiation hazards.
  • Perform imaging following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Adjust/set radiographic controls, position patients, and perform ultrasounds of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians.
  • Send ultrasound reports to appropriate medical staff and maintain required records.
  • Comply with safety standards, clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to ultrasound equipment.
  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms.
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities, including sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining ultrasound reports, and completing forms/requisitions as needed.
  • Fulfill environmental responsibilities, including setting up equipment, cleaning visit/procedure rooms, and maintaining infection control.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
  • ARDMS or RVS certification required.
  • 3 years or more ultrasound experience in vascular, GYN, and abdominal imaging.
  • Maintain CME's and recertification.
  • Knowledge of Ultrasound procedures and protocols, anatomy and physiology, and radiology/ultrasound equipment.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly, identifying equipment problems, and following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift and position patients for ultrasound procedures, notice details, and apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
