ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Safety and Security Officer is integral to maintaining the safety and security of staff, facilities, and resources within the organization. This role encompasses the implementation of security protocols, conducting thorough risk evaluations, and responding effectively to security incidents to minimize potential risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Surveillance and Security:
• Monitoring facility access and safeguarding property.
• Assisting personnel during emergencies, including altercations, evacuations, and accidents.
• Utilizing surveillance technology to oversee the premises and grounds.
• Maintaining a detailed log of all individuals entering and exiting the facility.
• Conducting regular security inspections to identify and rectify safety concerns.
• Responding to alarms and advising visitors on compliance with facility rules.
• Preventing unauthorized access to the property.
• Reporting safety issues to program management.
• Coordinating with first responders during emergencies.
• Inspecting vehicles for safety compliance and operational readiness.
• Keeping vehicle records and ensuring cleanliness and maintenance.

Support and Facility Maintenance:
• Providing friendly assistance to contractors, third-party organizations, staff, and visitors.
• Supervising children during recreational activities, meals, and relaxation periods while fostering positive relationships.
• Ensuring the facility and vehicles are secure, clean, and well-maintained, including performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Completing Significant Incident Reports (SIRs) as mandated by regulatory bodies and internal policies.
• Assisting in emergency evacuations due to severe weather or other crises.
• Training new employees on their responsibilities.
• Participating in required departmental and training meetings to stay updated on policy changes.
• Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety standards and supporting program enhancements.
• Ensuring effective communication and collaboration with the management team.

ADDITIONAL TASKS:
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred minimum of 1 year of experience in security monitoring.
  • Valid Guard Certification is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have cleared tuberculosis test results.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Proof of required vaccinations is necessary.
  • Must pass background checks, including Child Abuse and Neglect and FBI criminal background checks.
  • Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive as needed for program services.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds infrequently.
  • Tasks may involve standing or walking for 50% of the day; sitting for the remaining 50%.
  • Must be able to perform physical holds as per Crisis Prevention Intervention training.
