Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist PRN plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. As a key member of the patient care team, this individual will be responsible for coordinating and delivering respiratory care services to patients in accordance with the department's standards and the relevant state and specialty's scope and standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, or BCLS Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist, or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician.
