Nursing Supervisor RN House Manager

Overview

Purpose Statement:

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of nursing services in the facility, ensuring adequate staffing to provide quality care.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to meet the physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental, and cultural needs of residents.

Provides leadership to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards.

Recognizes patient safety as a top priority.

Responsibilities:

  • Anticipates and manages changes in census and acuity, allocating nursing resources accordingly.
  • Models customer service expectations and demonstrates a sense of urgency regarding patient safety.
  • Enforces and interprets policies for patient and resident care.
  • Ensures proper staffing for each unit, maintaining staff ratio and covering call-offs and vacation time.
  • Completes chart checks, seclusion/restraint logs, and nursing assessments, ensuring MARs and report sheets are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Rounds are completed at the beginning of each shift, with random audits performed.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing in orienting and ensuring staff competence to perform required duties, including coaching staff as needed.
  • Provides mentoring and training as required.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing in ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
  • Ensures the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and safe care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes and outcomes.
  • Coordinates all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensures consultations are ordered.
  • Documents medical, behavioral health information, and nursing care.
  • Administers medications and maintains records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs.
  • Prioritizes tasks and delegates staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Leader on shift for all admissions and discharges, informing physicians of changes in patient conditions and adjusting staffing accordingly.
  • Utilizes the administrator-on-call for situations requiring additional attention.
  • Provides direct care as needed.

Other Functions:

  • Performs other functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

BSN from an accredited school of nursing preferred. Current license in the state of the facility. At least one year of med/surg nursing experience and/or one year in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.

License/Certifications:

Current certification or license to teach within the state where the facility is located. CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility regulations.
