Bannock County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team as a Security and Detention Specialist. As a key member of our law enforcement team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our detention center, as well as providing exceptional service to the community.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and control the activities of inmates and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations
- Process new inmates, including fingerprinting, photography, and data entry
- Arrest and serve warrants as necessary, following proper procedures and protocols
- Perform release duties, including checking court orders and records
- Maintain facility security by patrolling secure areas and operating electronic doors
- Respond to emergencies, including fire alarms and medical incidents
- Issue keys to deputies and maintain key control inventory
- Search for and seize contraband, including weapons and drugs
- Handle and secure evidence according to proper procedures
- Ensure the safety and security of inmates, visitors, and staff members
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required; degree in criminal justice or related field preferred
- Law enforcement or detention facility experience preferred
- Must successfully complete a polygraph examination and POST Physical Fitness Test upon hire
- Must be 18 years of age
- Idaho POST basic detention certification within one year of hire required
- Idaho driver's license required
The Deputy Sheriff will work in a fast-paced detention environment, with frequent exposure to stress and potential danger. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
