About the Role

The Library Director will be responsible for leading the library's strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management. This includes developing and implementing programs and services that meet the needs of our diverse community, as well as fostering partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and present an annual budget to the Board of Commissioners
  • Recruit, select, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate library staff
  • Administer long-range planning and policy development and implementation
  • Prepare the state annual report
  • Inform and advise the Board on relevant updates and trends in the library field
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of facilities and grounds
  • Oversee the design and implementation of services and programs for users of all ages
  • Prioritize outreach and serve as the public face of the library
Qualifications

An ALA-accredited master's degree in library science plus three or more years of progressively responsible experience in a public library is required. Experience providing excellent customer service, supervising a team, reporting directly to a governing board, and managing a budget are desired skills.

Compensation

The hiring salary range is $130,000 – $140,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications) and an excellent fringe benefits package.
