Job Responsibilities
**$3,000 Sign-On Bonus**
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team at a prominent psychiatric inpatient facility. Our institution has a rich history of providing quality mental health care and is committed to a holistic approach to treatment.
We operate a maximum-security treatment facility and offer inpatient care for individuals in the community and those involved in the criminal justice system. Our philosophy emphasizes personalized treatment, recognizing that recovery is a unique journey for each individual. Treatment options may include medication management, evidence-based therapies, peer support, psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational training, and substance use treatment.
As a Psychiatric Technician, you will engage directly with patients to support their therapeutic objectives. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, addressing patient concerns, encouraging participation in activities, intervening in behavioral crises, and enhancing patients' coping skills to navigate judicial challenges. This role requires the ability to manage situations involving potentially aggressive behavior, necessitating knowledge of the least restrictive interventions as per facility policy.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)
- Capability to walk and/or stand for a minimum of 75% of the shift
- Proficiency in bending, grasping, and manipulating materials
- Competence in administering CPR.
Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Experience as a CNA/Aide/Tech providing direct care to individuals with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities in a healthcare environment.
- A valid driver's license.
- Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and overtime.
Additional Considerations
All full-time staff members are assigned a primary shift and have the opportunity for collaborative scheduling. However, this position is essential and requires availability during emergencies or facility needs. Staff may be required to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Successful completion of required training is mandatory.
Application Process
Applications are accepted online only. Candidates will receive confirmation upon successful submission. An extensive background check will be conducted for selected candidates, including employment references and drug testing.
The Commonwealth of Virginia offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance options, paid life insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave.
We encourage individuals with disabilities to apply through our Alternative Hiring Process, providing necessary documentation as required. Reasonable accommodations are available during the application and interview process.
Equal Opportunity Employer
The Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
