Job Summary:

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Director to lead our clinical laboratory team. As a key member of our healthcare team, the Laboratory Director will be responsible for developing and implementing departmental goals, plans, and standards that align with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and evaluate departmental operations, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
• Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets to ensure compliance with allocated funding.
• Coordinate and direct internal/external audits.
• Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth and integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Seven (7) years of experience in a clinical lab performing moderate/high complexity testing.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• ASCP MLS/MT Certification preferred.
