Aircraft Mechanic Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic to join its Flight Test team in Linthicum, Maryland.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Aircraft Mechanic to perform maintenance, modifications, and inspections of aircraft and ground support equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in aviation maintenance, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, perform, and coordinate all operations necessary to maintain, modify, and inspect aircraft and ground support equipment.
  • Improvise tooling and methods as required to complete job tasks.
  • Certify all required work and ensure compliance with federal government and civilian regulations.
  • Assist supervision in determining ground support equipment, spare parts, and other necessary equipment.
  • Discuss functional requirements, problems with systems, components, and material utilized on aircraft with supervision.
  • Provide continuous training to aircrews in the use and care of aircrew life support and training or egress systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all actions taken or required on the aircraft.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant Certificate required.
  • Four years of experience as an aircraft mechanic in the military, industrial, or commercial aviation field.
  • Current in the aviation field within the previous 24 months and have exercised the "FULL" extent of the A&P license.
  • Three years of turbine engine experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience performing major aircraft modifications and major structural repairs.
  • Proficient with sheet metal and composite fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair for aircraft and aircraft components.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with other FAA A&P Mechanics, Inspectors, Test Pilots, and Engineers.
