Physical Therapist Assistant III

Job Description Vidant Health About Vidant Health Vidant Health is a Joint Commission-accredited, 204-bed acute bed facility serving Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in the north-central region of North Carolina. Its service area also reaches into southern Virginia. With more than 600 team members, the hospital offers a broad range of medical and surgical services. It features a 24-hour emergency department and offers advanced diagnostics as well as specialty and primary care.
Position Summary Provides patient care under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist through performing treatment, communicating with the supervising PT and other health care professionals, and appropriate documentation. Participates in departmental/team quality improvement activities. Delegates appropriate tasks to PT technicians and supervises. Responsible for education of self, peers, patients, and students and assists with new employee orientation. Assists with or performs special projects.
Responsibilities Professional Practice: Implements patient care according to knowledge and skill, under the direction and supervision of a P.T., Adjusts patient care as indicated by patient response/need and as discussed with the supervising P.T., Communicates provision of care and results through verbal communication and written documentation. Provides patient/family education. Delegates portions of care to appropriate personnel. Participates in discharge planning.
Education: Identifies and plans for own learning needs. Attends inservice. Applies knowledge gained through education to clinical practice. Instructs students and less experienced staff.
Leadership: Is familiar with and follows hospital policies and procedures. Attends mandatory inservices/meetings. Delegates duties to others and supervises as appropriate. Demonstrates effective interpersonal relations and communication. Contributes to organizational/team and department goals by active participation in meetings and committees.
Quality Improvement: Responsible for delivering quality care. Participates in quality improvement activities. May serve on Quality Improvement Committee.
Special Projects: Participates in approved projects.
Minimum Requirements Associate Degree or higher. High School plus 2 years or more of formal training or education. Specify: Physical Therapist Assistant Registration or Certification: North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy. 5 years, less than 10 years of licensure is required.
