About the Role

The Contra Costa County Office of Education is a leading provider of educational services, serving a diverse student population. As a Special Education Teacher-Early Start/Preschool Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of young children with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and identify the needs of children and their families, developing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individual Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Plan and implement home and community intervention activities for children with developmental and low incidence disabilities
  • Provide support services to families and consultation and training to instructional staff
  • Travel county-wide to provide services
Requirements
  • Valid California Special Education Extensive Support Teaching Credential for Early Childhood Education and English Learner Authorization
  • Or, eligibility to be granted a credential or permit authorizing teaching Special Education students birth to Pre-K, English Learner Authorization
  • Two years teaching in a classroom serving students in Early Start program or preschool program, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in the child development or related field
  • Valid California driver's license
