Electrical Engineer/PE Job Description

Woolpert, Inc. is a leading national architecture, engineering, and geospatial firm that delivers value to clients by blending site and architectural design excellence with innovative technology and geospatial applications. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer/PE for our Buildings Team to support hybrid/remote working arrangements in our Chicago, IL, or Orlando, FL locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex and/or unique engineering functions specific to the electrical discipline.
  • Interpret, define, organize, execute, and coordinate engineering assignments.
  • Apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes in execution of quality deliverables that meet project/deliverable specifications.
  • Provide technical opinions in the project definition and planning phases.
  • Communicate new methods, developments, and practices through appropriate firm channels.
  • Participate in the development of standard practices and advancement of team and individual skills.

Business Development Role:

  • Provide technical assistance in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and technical narratives.
  • Act as technical expertise and representative of the firm at various functions, as needed.
  • Participate in training sessions for internal staff, as needed.
  • Participate in firm-wide quality initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience with building power systems, lighting design, medium-voltage distribution, SKM analysis, and photometric calculations.
  • Experience with commercial, hospitality, high-rise, industrial, and/or Federal design preferred.
  • Must have experience designing directly in Revit for preparing construction documents.
  • Must have experience in coordination of design documents between disciplines.
  • Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Must be able to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Must have above average presentation skills.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Must be familiar with discipline-related software applications.
  • Must have a BA/BS or MA/MS and 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Must be willing to travel to project sites or offices as needed based on assigned projects or as required for team collaboration.
