About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Collections Officer I to join our team at Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union. As a Collections Officer, you will play a critical role in helping our members grow financially by ensuring timely payments and resolving delinquent accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor payments for late and/or delinquency status, and follow up on delinquent and overdue accounts through phone calls and/or letters.
  • Collect on multiple delinquent accounts and communicate a sense of urgency to the debtor to pay the delinquent loan up to date.
  • Order appropriate collection letters according to department guidelines.
  • Understand and appropriately apply the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act in all account communication.
  • Recommend accounts for extensions and workout/consolidation loans and assist with negotiation and presentations for approval.
  • Perform basic skip tracing techniques.
  • Maintain an understanding of Credit Union utilized systems, including but not limited to collection payment, payment and insurance vendor systems.
  • Follow all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Represent the Credit Union in a professional manner, including but not limited to appearance, behavior, and performance.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or general education degree.
  • Minimum of one year collection or credit union experience required. Experience collecting on multiple loan products strongly preferred.
