Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer routine and complex respiratory care procedures to patients in pediatric and adult settings.
  • Provide critical and emergent care, airway stabilization, and management, as well as non-invasive ventilation.
  • Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
  • Assess patients clinically before and after the administration or application of any medication, procedure, or device.
  • Recommend appropriate therapy, including initial therapy, changes in therapy, and discontinuation.
  • Monitor, assess, educate, and document patient and/or family on therapies, medications, goals of therapies, and equipment during treatment.
  • Respond to emergent care situations, including adult and pediatric, in the hospital and assist with resuscitation.
  • Transport adult patients on mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation devices, and critically ill to intrahospital procedures and testing.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate care to support various patient populations during hospitalization.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Minimum 1 year respiratory experience required, 6 months critical care.
  • RRT certification and licensure.
  • CPR and ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • NRP certification within 90 days of orientation.
  • IL and/or WI Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
Working Conditions

The special physical demands of this position include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, talking, and hearing. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally exert up to 100 pounds of force.
