Job Title: Certified Surgical First Assist

We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical First Assist to join our team at Healthcare Staffing Plus. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and assisting surgeons during procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Position patients to give best exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
  • Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
  • Participate as a surgical team member in the preparation of the surgical suite according to surgeon's preference cards with appropriate instruments, resources, and supplies.
Requirements:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • The ability to stand for extended periods
  • Strong technical skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Passionate about patient care
  • BLS Provider American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
  • Graduate from a fully accredited certified Surgical Tech program
  • Minimum three years of Certified Surgical Tech experience
  • Active unencumbered Indiana state license
Skills and Abilities:
  • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills
  • Participates in relevant continuing education programs
  • Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients
  • Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving expertise
  • A can-do, team-oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers, and staff throughout the department and hospital
