Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every aspect of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors, and adhering to all safety protocols while collecting lifesaving blood donations delivered to hospitals.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Engaging personally with donors - listening to their stories and helping them understand the significance of their contributions.
  • Working collaboratively with your teammates to foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, ensuring our volunteer donors feel comfortable returning.
  • Maintaining attention to detail consistently to ensure that the blood collected meets goals, regulatory standards, and can be safely transfused.
  • Driving Red Cross vehicles and collaborating with the team to set up and dismantle equipment at donation sites. Minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

Standard Schedule:

  • To effectively meet the needs of our donors and community, staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be necessary in some locations.
  • Schedules are provided two to three weeks in advance.

Compensation:

  • Hourly pay rate of $18.00.
  • This position is represented by a union contract.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are essential.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is necessary.
  • DOT certification may be required in some locations. If necessary, must pass applicable DOT physical and related requirements and be able to possess or obtain a medical certification of at least one year duration.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes. Minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
  • Previous leadership experience.
