Job Description

The Surface Treatment Specialist at PTG Reed will engage in various hand sanding, polishing, and deburring tasks. This role involves collaborating within a team to grind and finish components according to client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather job assignments and necessary materials (templates, blueprints, process sheets, etc.)
  • Utilize hand tools, pedestal, bench, and machine techniques to finish, polish, and deburr cylindrical and flat dies, correcting irregularities and enhancing surface quality.
  • Set up and adjust equipment to achieve precise polishing and finishing of die threads, bevels, and flutes while preventing distortion or excessive material removal.
  • Conduct inspections of all pieces and verify tolerances.
  • Perform accurate measurements using tools such as comparators and micrometers.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace in accordance with 6S initiatives.
  • Assist shop technicians and engineering teams as required.
  • Report any safety concerns, machine malfunctions, or non-conformance issues to the Supervisor or Leader.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols and regulations.
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required Skills:

High School Diploma or GED.

Skills & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and process-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to identify and report improper operations, faulty equipment, and defective materials.
  • Hand/eye coordination necessary for simultaneous control operations.
  • High visual acuity for reading precision gauges and monitoring detailed work.
  • Dexterity for quick and precise movements.
  • Careful and attentive when setting up or operating machinery to prevent injury.
  • Moderate physical effort required.
