About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our Substation Engineering team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. As a Graduate Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of protection and control systems for utility-scale substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop protection and control systems for substations, including protection relays, control systems, and communication networks.
  • Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and drawing packages for substation projects.
  • Review and approve project submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide technical support during construction.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge and skills to stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others' work.
  • Ability to use sound engineering judgment.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • EIT/FE certification or the ability to obtain certification within one year.
  • Experience developing one lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC schematics, alarm schematics, communication schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated cable schedule.
  • Experience completing AC and DC load, voltage drop, and conduit fill calculations.
  • Experience developing equipment and construction specifications.
  • AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting experience.
