Laboratory Courier

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Courier is responsible for delivering supplies, patient reports, and mail to physician's offices and satellite facilities. This role requires safe operation of a Laboratory vehicle during routine and stat pickups for Laboratory specimens from offsite facilities and physician offices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transport diagnostic X-rays to and from Royal Oak Medical Offices Titusville and Port St John to Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St John.
• Deliver Pharmacy medications and supplies to Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St John, Parrish Community Clinic, and Parrish Wound Healing Center.
• Accurately document daily mileage in the daily logbook.
• Perform basic operational inspection of vehicle daily, to include oil, tires, lights, and water.
• Report any vehicle problems to the Laboratory Operations Manager.
• Keep vehicle supplied with gas and interior clean.
• Monitor the pneumatic tube system and deliver specimens to the appropriate section during scheduled periods.
• Stamp outpatient requisitions with date and time received in the laboratory and inform appropriate personnel of STAT orders.
• Clean and maintain laboratory glassware.
• Aid in putting away laboratory supplies.
• Accurately measure and add preservatives to 24-hour urine containers and properly label.
• Prepare cytology specimen bottles with Formalin.
• Know fire, disaster, and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No experience necessary.
• Valid State of Florida Drivers License and Motor Vehicle Record that is acceptable to PMC's corporate automobile insurance carrier.
