Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. As an Elementary Teacher, you will be responsible for implementing an effective educational program for the appointed grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that values and responds to cultural, ethnic, gender, linguistic, and socio-economic differences.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Administer and analyze assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instructional plans accordingly, and provide accommodations to individual students as required.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to interpret and use student data for instructional planning and program evaluation, and communicate effectively with parents and families to support student learning.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing, continuous professional learning to increase student achievement and grow professional expertise.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Hold or be able to acquire a valid teaching certificate in Alabama with proper endorsement in teaching field, proficiency in oral and written communication skills, and demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Performance Expectations: Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities, and adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
Terms of Employment

The selected candidate will be employed on a 9, 10, or 12-month basis, with salary commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified/Classified Personnel.
