Job Summary:

The Jacksonville School District 117 is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating students with speech and language impairments, participating in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services, and developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.

Key Responsibilities:

Identifies and evaluates students with speech and language impairments
Participates in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services
Develops and implements IEPs for students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment
Provides in-service programs to parents, teachers, students, administrators, and other professionals
Completes required documents and reports
Participates on child study and teacher assistance teams
Facilitates curriculum and instructional modifications
Participates in continuing professional education

Requirements:

Master's degree in speech and language pathology meeting State of Illinois academic and supervised practicum experience requirements
Valid Standard Special License, Type 10 or 73 in Speech and Language Impaired
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts to practical solutions
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
Ability to plan and implement lessons based on District and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
Ability to perform all duties with the awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies
Able to regularly sit and occasionally walk and stand
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
Able to hear conversations in a quiet and/or noisy environment, and will continually need the ability to differentiate between bells, buzzers, etc.

Working Conditions:

The Speech Language Pathologist will work in a school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and other staff members. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively is essential. The Speech Language Pathologist will also be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
