Job Opportunity: Sheet Metal Apprentice

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Apprentice to join our team at New England Air Systems. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for fabricating, building, and installing various types of metal structures and equipment for facility maintenance and installation programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install sheet metal equipment and ductwork according to drawings and specifications.
  • Properly install sheet metal accessories.
  • Work safely, adhering to OSHA standards and New England Air Systems protocols.
  • Measure, cut, and weld metal pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
  • Operate machinery to complete assigned jobs.
  • Develop and maintain records for projects and repairs.
  • Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to required dimensions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Accurate reading of tape measures to 1/16".
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and calculate fractions.
  • Ability to complete sheet metal projects with precision and accuracy.
  • Safe operation of machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
  • Ability to follow directions and read blueprints and schematics.
  • Team player with ability to work independently.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Co-op experience with a high school senior is welcome.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds at times.

Our 4-year apprenticeship program combines 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with classes that teach the basics of the sheet metal trade.
