Job Description

This is a full-time position supporting our Woburn, MA, environmental location. As an Asbestos Scientist, you will be responsible for receiving and processing high volumes of samples quickly and accurately.

Essential Functions:
  1. Receiving and processing high volumes of samples.
  2. Preparation and analysis of bulk materials for asbestos content using PLM.
  3. Cleaning, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment.
  4. Performing QA/QC practices as specified in our QA/QC manual.
  5. Assisting the QA Manager with data entry and documentation.
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Conscientious and detail-oriented, with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform work in a lab or office setting, remain standing for long periods while conducting tests, work around strong smells, and wear personal protective equipment while handling samples.
  • Proficiency in high-volume data entry with Excel and/or computer database.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Mobility to work in a lab and office setting, use standard office and lab equipment, and stamina to sit for extended periods of time.

Working Environment:

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors, and related items in a lab setting.
