JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Material Handler
Department: Shipping T99
Shift: 1st, 7am-3:30pm, with potential overtime starting as early as 5am or extending until 5pm, including Saturdays during peak production periods
Classification: Non-exempt/Hourly
Reports to: Shipping Supervisor
Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for the receipt, storage, loading, and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products within the facility, ensuring accuracy and promptness in all operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Operate forklifts to receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products.
- Utilize forklifts to load finished products onto delivery vehicles.
- Employ Combi-Lift equipment for the transportation and loading of lengthy materials.
- Prepare orders in accordance with specifications and pallet configurations.
- Generate barcodes for item identification and accurately track inventory using RF and handheld scanners.
- Notify the Team Leader/Supervisor of any inventory inconsistencies.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace in compliance with 5S standards.
- Implement all components of AGCO's Lean and Quality Management systems.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities
Employees are accountable for their adherence to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Complying with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Reporting unsafe practices or conditions to supervisors.
- Wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any defective PPE.
- Documenting all near-misses, incidents, injuries, and property damage.
- Participating in the site Safety and Health Program.
Essential Skills
Education
High school diploma or GED is required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Prior experience in manufacturing or warehouse settings is preferred.
- Experience with Van/Flatbed loading is advantageous.
- Completion of GSI and OSHA forklift training is mandatory within the first week of employment.
- Basic computer proficiency is required.
- Familiarity with RF and handheld scanners, as well as the ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the capability to follow detailed instructions.
- Effective communication skills with peers, supervisors, and across departments.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this role, the employee will work in proximity to moving trucks, trailers, forklifts, and large machinery on a daily basis. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud, and employees may be exposed to a range of extreme temperatures.
Physical Demands
The physical requirements of this position include:
Frequent sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and using hands and fingers for handling tasks. The employee must be capable of standing for up to twelve hours daily and frequently lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Personal protective equipment (e.g., eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves) must be worn at all times.
Travel
No travel is anticipated for this position.
