Position Overview

We are in search of a seasoned Principal Engineer specializing in High-Speed Optoelectronics to become a vital part of our expanding team. This role will be responsible for the design and advancement of our optical transceiver products, targeting 800G and beyond. You will collaborate with various technical teams to bring Lumilens' optical transceiver solutions to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with photonic chip and subassembly design teams to co-develop high-speed RF interfaces.
  • Assist in the selection and characterization of RFICs.
  • Conduct model extraction, frequency/time domain electrical simulations, device characterization, and debugging to validate high-speed interface performance.
  • Facilitate the integration of digital-optical functions for next-generation optical transceivers.
  • Work alongside PCB layout engineers to finalize high-speed interconnect designs.
  • Partner with transceiver and package design engineers and suppliers to establish chip and package SI/PI objectives.
  • Plan and execute engineering verification tests, including the design of necessary test boards.
  • Support the performance characterization of optical transceivers, which will involve detailed experimental validation of the constituent sub-components, including analog, control, and DSP ASICs.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in developing successful optical transceivers.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-speed optoelectronic devices, such as lasers, detectors, and modulators.
  • Familiarity with high-speed ICs, including DSP, modulator drivers, and transimpedance amplifiers.
  • Proven experience in characterizing and troubleshooting high-speed optical transceivers.
  • Proficient in using HFSS or CST simulation tools.
  • A multi-disciplinary background with a demonstrated history of innovation.
  • Experienced with high-speed laboratory equipment, such as TDR, VNA, and spectrum analyzers for lab validation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
