Job Summary:
This role is dedicated to ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of school facilities, preparing them for educational and community events as required.

Key Responsibilities:
1.

Maintain cleanliness in designated areas of the school to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for students and staff. Duties include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, and managing waste disposal.


2. Secure the premises by managing building access and operating the alarm system according to established protocols, while being vigilant about after-hours activities.

3.

Set up and dismantle various equipment and furniture for events, assemblies, and public use, adapting to the needs of students, staff, and community members.

Assist in locating necessary equipment and provide emergency cleaning as needed.

4. Foster effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community to promote safety and security.

5.

Conduct thorough summer cleaning, including floor maintenance, furniture care, and minor repairs to prepare facilities for the upcoming school year.


6.

Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as painting, stain removal, and fixing fixtures.


7. Conduct security inspections of the facility, including perimeter checks and door/window security.

8. Pressure wash areas as necessary to maintain cleanliness.

9. Clean windows to ensure a clear and welcoming environment.

Additional Duties:
10. Operate various cleaning equipment and tools as required.

11. Monitor building systems and respond to alarms as necessary.

12. Assist with the movement of supplies and materials as directed.

13. Provide access to facilities as needed outside of regular hours.

14. Manage inventory and ordering of cleaning supplies as assigned.

15. Assist with grounds maintenance, including litter removal and snow clearing, to maintain an attractive school environment.

16. Participate in district committees and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions.

17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Assistant Director or Manager of Facilities, receiving guidance from the head custodian and school administration.

Qualifications:
Education and experience that demonstrate the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, with a preference for experience in cleaning practices and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to identify cleaning materials and their uses, learn the operation of cleaning equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks. Strong communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships are essential.

Licenses/Special Requirements:
Background checks are required to ensure the safety of students. Training in infection control and a valid driver's license may be necessary.
