Job Summary

LJB Inc. is a leading national engineering firm seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our Buildings Practice in Dayton, OH. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and planning structural components and systems for tilt-up design projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently complete structural calculations for structural systems, including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction documents needed for vertical building structures.
  • Coordinate with design staff to ensure accurate document and drawing production.
  • Communicate with clients regarding project issues and attend meetings under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
  • React quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
  • Occasionally visit work sites to monitor project progress and report findings.
  • Meet all safety requirements when visiting work sites.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Open to future growth into a Project Manager role, if desired.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering with structural emphasis required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • 5+ years' engineering experience with knowledge and experience in design of reinforced concrete and/or steel vertical structural engineering projects.
  • Experience preparing construction documents, drawings, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Cast-in-place concrete and/or Steel mid-rise experience a plus.
  • Experience using RAM Structural, Enercalc, and Revit preferred.
