Job Summary

The Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for performing comprehensive Polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or the medical director (M.D., D.O., or PhD) or designee.

This is a technical position functioning independently with limited supervision, requiring extensive knowledge and the application of advanced expertise in the field of sleep disorders, and sound clinical judgments, actions, and decision making regarding unusual patient behavior, i.e. seizure activity, life threatening cardiac and respiratory abnormalities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive Polysomnographic testing and analysis
  • Provide oversight of a Polysomnographic Trainee
  • Apply advanced expertise in the field of sleep disorders
  • Make sound clinical judgments, actions, and decision making regarding unusual patient behavior

Requirements

  • Completion of certification (CPSGT) in polysomnography within six (6) months of employment
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
  • Successful completion of an accredited (CAAHEP preferred) educational program leading to an associate degree with emphasis in polysomnography
