Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at St. Luke's Hospital. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests, troubleshooting instrumentation, and ensuring the accuracy of laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation per established policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control testing and document corrective action per established policy.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation with the aid of consulting technical services.
  • Follow established policies regarding accurate documentation of laboratory results.
  • Teach and train new employees, assist in competency assessment, and monitor inventory of supplies.
  • Implement computer downtime procedures when necessary and demonstrate competency in assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Organize and prioritize daily workload, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and handle multiple assignments as necessary.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with co-workers to promote a productive working environment and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • ASCP eligible.
  • One year of clinical laboratory training.
Work Environment

The Medical Technologist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, sitting up to 7 hours per day, standing up to 5 hours per day, and walking up to 7 hours per day. The position requires frequent use of hands for operation of laboratory equipment and computer keyboard, occasional lifting of boxes/equipment up to 30 pounds, and frequent stooping/bending.
