Job Summary

Our team at Backus Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients in the Emergency Department, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve patient outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and evidence-based practices, and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program required.
  • BLS required. Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
  • Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
