Press Line Lead

The Press Line Lead is a critical role that supports the Shift Supervisor in ensuring the press line team meets or exceeds production goals and quality expectations. This position is responsible for delegating tasks, managing the team, and ensuring all duties are performed accurately.
Key Responsibilities- Supports the Shift Supervisor in completing daily tasks and duties on the production floor.
- Assists in supervising employees, assigning duties, and creating a shift schedule when needed.
- Communicates mechanical issues to the Shift Supervisor and Maintenance departments for repairs.
- Operates the forklift to move and stage finished material in and out of the production area and out to shipping.
- Reviews daily assignments and production reports with the Shift Supervisor at the end of the day.
- Reports any issues that arise during the shift to the supervisor and management.
- Coordinates team activities to ensure all processes and procedures are followed accurately and efficiently.
- Keeps the team motivated to achieve daily goals and acts as a mentor to other team members.
- Provides regular feedback to the supervisor regarding team performance, including identifying areas for improvement and recommending strategies to enhance productivity and quality.
- Collaborates with other leads and supervisors to develop and implement process improvements and best practices for the department.
- Participates in the training of new employees.
- Collaborates with team members to ensure deadlines are met and products are delivered on time.
- Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations, including wearing required safety equipment.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
- Identifies and reports quality or safety issues to the supervisor or manager.
- Works effectively with co-workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve production goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Attention to detail: The ability to perform tasks with precision, accuracy, and thoroughness, paying close attention to all aspects of the work and identifying and correcting errors or inconsistencies as needed.
- Basic math skills: The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements accurately and efficiently, using arithmetic and geometry principles as needed.
- Communication skills: The ability to convey and receive information effectively, clearly, and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
- Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.
- Follow directions: The ability to follow established procedures while performing tasks, using tools, and handling materials. Carefully consider and follow instructions to complete tasks and deliver required results.
- Time management skills: The ability to prioritize tasks, plan and organize work efficiently, and meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards and minimizing waste.
- Project management: The ability to lead, organize, and oversee the work of a team to achieve specific objectives within a given time frame.
- Action oriented: The ability to take initiative, set priorities, delegate tasks, and drive results, while providing guidance, support, and feedback to team members.
- A high school diploma/GED, or equivalent work experience.
- At least two years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Physical dexterity: The employee must be able to bend, twist, and reach while handling tools and equipment. The employee is also required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, and to hear.
- Lifting: The employee must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 20 lbs on a regular basis, and occasionally items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Vision: The vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Endurance: The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to elements: The employee will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. There will also be frequent exposure to dirt, dust, and other substances commonly used in the production of rubber materials.
- Noise level: The employee will be exposed to moderate noise levels in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant use of forklift and hand-held power tools.
