Job Title: Senior Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at M.C. Dean, Inc. in Tysons, VA.

Job Summary:

The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for developing Engineering Installation Design Packages, creating project and device schedules, and assisting in the bid and proposal process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop Engineering Installation Design Packages, including block diagrams, riser diagrams, mounting and wiring details in AutoCAD.
  • Create project and device schedules with the Engineering Installation Design Packages.
  • Assist in the bid and proposal process to capture new work.
  • Participate in site surveys during all phases of projects.
  • Participate in pre-installation testing and checkout processes, including system programming, integration testing, and equipment build-outs.
  • Assist with various calculations, including power, heat, voltage drop, conduit sizing, and bandwidth.
  • Develop a basic understanding of related industry documentation, such as NEC, NFPA, UL Code, ICD 705, and NISPOM.
  • Participate in new product evaluations and recommendations.
  • Contribute to engineering by suggesting improvements and researching questions.
Requirements:
  • Active DoD TS/SCI w/ Polygraph clearance level is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, such as Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, with preferred experience in design build.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience leading large-scale designs.
  • Ability to effectively work with AutoCAD.
Abilities:
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
