Job Title: Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

We are seeking a skilled Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team at Contra Costa County Behavioral Health Services. As a board-eligible/certified psychiatrist, you will work in one of our regional behavioral health clinics, providing part-time to full-time services to our patients.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in conducting psychiatric assessments, making diagnoses, and developing comprehensive treatment plans. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and follow-up visits
  • Make diagnoses and develop comprehensive case histories
  • Create treatment plans and prescribe medications
  • Coordinate with consulting medical specialists
  • Act as a physician member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Conferring with relatives and loved ones of patients
  • Maintain electronic records according to BHS and regulatory agency standards
Requirements:
  • Board Certification or completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program
  • License to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of California
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of current developments, trends, and research in psychiatry, medicine, and addiction
  • Community mental health practice and program options
  • Psychopharmacology, including laws regarding informed consent, dosage ranges, drug incompatibilities, and side effects
  • General medicine and its relationship to psychiatry
  • Substance use disorders and their relationship to psychiatry
  • Psychiatric principles and practices
  • Treatment approaches and differential diagnosis of the mentally ill
  • HIPAA regulations
  • Medical ethics as they relate to patient care
