Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the CDL Administrator in developing and maintaining the CDL program, the Heavy Equipment program, and other Workforce Development Programs created in the Contract Education Department at Luna Community College. The successful candidate will participate in hiring and scheduling instructors, establish and maintain partnerships with community businesses and agencies, and adhere to budget guidelines while maintaining program equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the CDL Administrator in developing and maintaining the CDL program, the Heavy Equipment program, and other Workforce Development Programs.
  • Participate in hiring and scheduling instructors as needed.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community businesses and agencies.
  • Adhere to budget guidelines while maintaining program equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate and maintain student records in accordance with Luna Community College guidelines.
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs of all CDL/Heavy Equipment/simulators and ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Report any safety hazards immediately to the Administrator or appropriate department.
Requirements
  • A valid New Mexico Class A CDL Driver's License is required.
  • At least two (2) years of practical experience is required.
Work Environment
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • The worker stands at least 70 percent of the time.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.
  • The worker may be required to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Off Site training may be required, with overnight stay.
  • The worker is occasionally exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • The worker must be able to pass a DOT drug test.
  • The worker must be able to pass and maintain the DOT physical.
