We are seeking a highly skilled School Social Worker to join our team at Elite School Staffing. As a School Social Worker, you will be responsible for providing social work services and assistance to improve the social and psychological function of children and to strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities- Apply Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current federal and state special education laws and local guidelines (MARSE).
- Provide Student Assessment: Apply social worker theories and interventions to provide student assessment, recommend IEP services, and determine eligibility for special education services.
- Work with Community Groups: Develop supportive resources and work with community groups to provide social work services and assistance.
- Collaborate with IEP Team: Work with the IEP team, including Speech and Language Pathologist, School Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Teachers, Parents, and Administrators, to alleviate specific problems.
- Consult with Parents and Teachers: Consult with parents on effective intervention strategies and consult with classroom teachers to help them better understand and work with particular students or manage particular classes.
- Knowledge of Special Education Requirements: Have knowledge of FBA's, BIP's, Behavior Contracts, and MDR's, as well as administering the BASC, CARS, GARS, and Conners.
- Education: M.S.W. in Social Work.
- Licensure: Michigan licensed School Social Worker.
- Experience: Three plus years in delivery of Special Education services providing social work services, facilitating individual or group discussions, and preparing social and family histories.
- Skills and Abilities: Gather information regarding student and/or program needs, assess and evaluate behavior problems, conduct social development studies, administer standardized behavior scales, and provide crisis intervention services as appropriate.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is periodically required to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, and crawl. May have to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
