Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Safety Systems Engineer to join our esteemed Software Systems, Safety, and Testing Engineering team. This team is pivotal in addressing the complex safety challenges associated with autonomous driving technology. Your expertise will contribute to defining and validating the safety framework necessary for our self-driving systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive safety assessments at various system levels to pinpoint design weaknesses.
- Develop functional and technical safety requirements for diverse autonomy software components to ensure vehicle safety amidst faults.
- Engage with cross-disciplinary teams to facilitate a deep understanding of system dynamics and establish system constraints.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to foster collaboration within diverse teams.
Specific Duties Include:
- Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments (HARA) to establish Safety Goals and Functional Safety Requirements.
- Create and maintain the functional safety concept and technical safety framework for our autonomous applications.
- Execute Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) for autonomy systems.
- Conduct safety analyses, including trade studies and statistical evaluations, to inform critical design decisions.
- Manage safety requirements using appropriate tools for requirements management.
- Develop and uphold processes related to functional safety and software quality assurance.
- Act as the safety expert in cross-functional design discussions concerning safety-critical systems.
- Collaborate with software specialists to formulate fault management strategies to detect and mitigate faults.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in functional safety, system safety, or safety engineering.
- Proven experience in conducting HARA, FMEA, and FTA.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within large, complex teams in a results-oriented environment.
- Expertise in performing safety analyses for intricate designs.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of experience in functional safety, system safety, or safety engineering.
- Experience with complex autonomous systems.
- Knowledge of Python and modeling/simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB).
- Experience with machine learning applications.
- Leadership experience in a technical domain.
Compensation:
