Job Summary

This Medical Assistant III position plays a vital role in providing primary and preventative healthcare services under the guidance of physician leadership. Key responsibilities include maintaining patient flow, performing technical procedures, and collaborating with clerical staff to optimize operations and patient care.

Essential Functions

  • Patient Care Management: Assist physicians/providers by providing primary healthcare and patient care management, ensuring seamless delivery of services.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with clerical staff to streamline operations, enhance patient flow, and promote effective communication.
  • External Partnerships: Engage with outside healthcare facilities and agencies to facilitate patient care and insurance-related matters.
  • Competency Development: Maintain updated competencies, enabling you to speak confidently with leadership and accreditation bodies regarding processes and workflows.
  • Front Office Duties: Provide coverage as needed, adapting to various roles within the clinic.
  • Cross-Departmental Support: Offer assistance in other departments or locations as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service skills, upholding patient-centered care principles.
  • Specialized Responsibilities:
    • Identify gaps in care, prepare charts, and engage in outreach efforts to improve patient outcomes.
    • Participate in residency clinics, contributing to the development of medical professionals.
    • Maintain high-level disinfection protocols to ensure a safe environment.
    • Serve as a designated new hire preceptor, guiding colleagues through onboarding processes.
    • Support special programs, grants, and initiatives focused on enhancing patient care and services.
    • Engage in care management activities, prioritizing patient well-being.
    • Provide language interpretation services as required.
    • Assume responsibility for Super User tasks within EPIC or specific competency areas.
    • Offer advanced support to providers, assisting with complex procedures and infusion/chemo scheduling.
    • Flexibly participate in multi-site assignments and float pool duties.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required; completion of an accredited MA program, including clinical rotations, or equivalent experience is necessary.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in MA work, or completion of a Beaumont MA internship and 6 months of MA work experience, is required; 2-3 years of MA experience is preferred.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is mandatory; at least one Certification from the preferred list is desired.

Salary

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $45,000 to $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

This full-time position offers a regular Monday-to-Friday schedule, with 40 hours worked per week, and an 8am-4:30pm shift at our Shorepointe Family Physicians clinic.
