Job Opportunity

Sylvan Learning Centers in various locations are seeking a part-time Math Tutor to provide personalized learning experiences for students.

The ideal candidate will be able to engage students, motivate them to learn, and inspire confidence in their abilities. They will also be responsible for instructing students as designed and prescribed by the Sylvan programs, managing time and tasks, and evaluating and recording assignment progress.

Preferred qualifications include one to two years of teaching experience, knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension, and a four-year degree or equivalent in college-level math. State teaching credentials and SAT or ACT Test Preparatory teaching experience are also desirable.

Compensation is above average market rates, and the position requires availability during specific hours on weekdays and Saturdays. The Tutor position reports to the Center Director and should be able to deliver fully prepared lesson plans and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage students and initiate instructions
  • Instruct students as designed and prescribed by the Sylvan programs
  • Manage time, tasks, and students during the instructional session
  • Evaluate and record assignment progress for each student
  • Support procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to two years of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension
  • Four-year degree or equivalent to college-level math
  • State teaching credentials - current or expired
