Role Overview
The Asset Protection Associate will play a crucial role in ensuring the utmost safety and security for Wayfair associates and customers on a daily basis. This position will offer support to all relevant stakeholders during emergencies. As part of a vibrant Retail Asset Protection team, your mission will be to deliver world-class assistance to our partners. You will report to the Asset Protection Manager and provide insights on emerging opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement and Support
- Welcome and assist customers at the store entrance during operational hours.
- Provide guidance and address inquiries or concerns from customers.
- Collaborate with store leadership and Asset Protection for customer-related assistance.
- Maintain a friendly and informative presence while stationed at your post.
- Recognize guests displaying signs of dishonesty and relay observations to the AP Lead, Manager, or Specialists on duty.
- Support during shoplifting apprehensions and investigations as a witness.
- Report any concerns regarding suspected theft, whether internal or external, to the AP Manager and Lead.
- Identify and report safety concerns on the sales floor or back of house through regular safety audits.
- Provide feedback to store and AP leadership regarding safety observations.
- Act promptly in response to safety incidents involving guests or associates.
- Complete detailed safety reports as required.
- Participate in safety meetings to share best practices and safe working methods.
- Assist at the security desk to ensure safe check-in/out of associates.
- Monitor store surveillance cameras for any unusual activity.
- Engage with associates as they arrive and depart.
- Support the store Administrative Assistant with various tasks, including answering inquiries and documenting reports.
- Respond to incidents involving associates or customers as necessary.
- Log and record incidents reported to the Security AP desk, including fraud, theft, and safety-related issues.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer-facing retail environment.
- Flexible availability, including nights and weekends.
- Strong customer service skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with Google Systems, including email and Google Sheets.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 15 pounds.
