Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and calculations to provide accurate data for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Your expertise will also include maintaining equipment, evaluating test performance, and ensuring confidentiality of patient-related information.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing independently without error, within established time frames.
- Analyze and record quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting, making judgments concerning results and taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
- Maintain regulatory compliance guidelines and stay up-to-date on accreditation standards for laboratories, following safety guidelines and protocols for proficiency testing.
- Participate in performance improvement opportunities and support business development initiatives by managing supply and reagent inventory.
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communicating effectively with patients and colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
- Current license in the state of practice (if applicable) and certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (ASCP, AMT, or AAB).
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
