Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Midwest Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in the care of patients in a clinic setting, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities- Interact with patients to gather information and accurately document their medical history, chief complaint, and present illness.
- Proactively engage patients in communicating what to expect during their visit and continue to communicate delays or any changes.
- Initiate and perform documentation of patient information in our electronic medical records system, adhering to established standards and physician requirements.
- Conduct tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity, as well as apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
- Assist with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections, and laser treatments, preparing patients for sterile procedures.
- Educate patients regarding medication administration and pre and post-operative instructions, as directed by physicians.
- Readily scribe for physicians and maintain patient confidentiality by safeguarding medical records and adhering to HIPAA requirements.
- Utilize effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate dissatisfied patients.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications, as well as stay current with the latest technologies and medications.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs.
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
