Job Summary

Modern Disposal Services is seeking a highly skilled Landfill Construction Manager to oversee the day-to-day construction and maintenance operations of our landfill and on-site recycling plant. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construction and Maintenance Management
    • Oversee the construction and maintenance of landfill-related components, including the safe and efficient operation of projects throughout the landfill and recycling plant.
    • Collaborate with the VP of Post Collections to develop an effective and efficient operational plan, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and equipment maintenance policies.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable permits and regulations, including OSHA standards.
    • Establish and maintain a clean, safe work environment, performing monthly safety inspections as assigned.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Build and develop talent on the team, understanding employees' career goals and providing coaching to get employees ready for advancement.
    • Supervise and manage performance, ensuring tasks are appropriately delegated and completed by monitoring performance and holding employees accountable for meeting expectations.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with the Landfill Maintenance Manager to ensure construction equipment is properly maintained and new equipment is obtained when necessary.
    • Hold regular team meetings to communicate priorities, safety, policies, and company events.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent verbal communication skills, both one-on-one and in speaking before a group.
    • Ability to interface effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
    • Strength in initiative-taking, and a demonstrated track record in proactively identifying improvement opportunities and acting upon them.
