Auria is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide support for critical Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) initiatives. This role involves the management and upkeep of Linux-based systems within a software development framework.
The selected candidate will be accountable for the daily operations of both Windows and Linux environments, ensuring effective backup and recovery processes, including disaster recovery strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced setting. Technical expertise in server setup, deployment, and maintenance is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration of Linux systems, implementation of system security measures, development and management of Linux shell scripts and Ansible playbooks, and administration of security-enhanced (SE) Linux and Red Hat repositories.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
- Regularly verify that all data is backed up and that the backup systems are operational, conducting periodic restoration tests.
- Address any identified system security or virus incidents promptly.
- Install, configure, monitor, and maintain all Linux-based servers.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for Linux servers.
- Establish and uphold processes and procedures for Linux system administration.
- Manage and maintain Linux server applications.
- Ensure that Linux systems are updated with the latest patches, including security updates, application updates, and operating system upgrades.
- Maintain current antivirus software on Linux systems.
- Oversee the creation and management of security groups and user accounts.
- Monitor and manage storage systems and devices.
- Create and maintain server images for both Linux and Windows environments.
- Advise on system enhancements, including servers, applications, storage solutions, and operational processes.
- Identify when additional system resources are necessary or when existing resources should be decommissioned.
- Complete all required asset management functions.
- Ensure compliance of all Linux servers with relevant security policies.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the IT site lead or IT manager.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain Linux desktop and notebook images, as well as distribution packages for software applications.
- Ensure compliance of Linux desktops and notebooks with security policies.
- Assist the help desk in addressing end-user requests and issues.
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is advantageous.
Basic Qualifications:
- An active Secret clearance is required, with the capability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
- 6 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; 4 years with a Master's degree; or 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Possession of a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA).
- Proven experience with LINUX systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desirable.
- Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), Multi-Factor Authentication implementations, OpenShift, OpenStack, VMware ESXI, QAS/VAS, Windows, Active Directory, and backup and recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with tools such as Git, Nexus, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
- Understanding of PaaS and SaaS concepts.
- Knowledge of configuration management in Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments.
- Comprehension of Agile processes.
- Insight into Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies as they apply to IT products.
Salary Range: The salary offered will reflect the qualifications of the selected candidate, including skills, education, and experience, within the range of $99,000 - $113,000.
