A Day in the Life of a Critical Care Nurse

Maintaining a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.
The 12-bed unit cares for acutely ill medical and surgical patients.
Nurses are ACLS and TCAR certified, and trained in reading dysrhythmias, balloon pumps, Impellas, CRRT, neuro drains, post open hearts, etc.
They are involved in miscellaneous bedside procedures and have continuous bedside monitoring in all patient rooms to facilitate accurate and close monitoring.
Nurses also manage vasoactive medications for blood pressure issues along with sedation for those who are ventilated.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2/3, depending on acuity.
Requirements:
- 1 year current hospital experience - Required
- Intensive Care Unit experience - Required
