Key Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer, your role will encompass planning, designing, monitoring, supporting, and integrating the Center's on-premises and cloud-based systems. This includes the installation, support, and maintenance of servers and other computing systems, as well as planning for and addressing service outages and other issues. You will also manage systems-related projects and act as an escalation point for technical support tickets.

Primary Duties
  • Diagnose and resolve configuration, network, software, and communication issues within the Center's AWS cloud environment utilizing diagnostic tools and technical troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Design, configure, and maintain comprehensive documentation of the enterprise environment, including hardware, operating systems, applications software, and communication components to meet business needs. Continuously assess the performance and effectiveness of systems and resources.
  • Research in-network systems and related technologies to ensure compatibility with existing applications and security protocols. Establish methods and procedures for utilizing network systems, including hardware, software, and communication devices.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for the organization's infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of hardware, software, and communication components, ensuring they meet the information needs of the Center.
  • Document activities in the Center's Help Desk software, track and route issues and requests, document resolutions, and prepare activity reports.
  • Evaluate and recommend network software and hardware solutions for the Center.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and procedures for the Center's infrastructure and services.
  • Collaborate with management for the procurement of hardware, software, and IT services and maintenance.
  • Cross-train team members on systems to ensure continuity of service and availability.
This position is designed to be hybrid, allowing for a combination of office and remote work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of educational qualifications.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with AWS and systems is required.
Additional Knowledge Requirements:
  • Advanced understanding of Amazon Web Services, including but not limited to RDS, Aurora, CloudFormation, IAM, JSON, and CI/CD.
  • Proficient in Linux OS, Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 Suite, diagnostic utilities, Windows Server 2019/2022, PowerShell, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, VMware, YAML, and basic networking.
