Chess Instructor

Magnus Chess Academy is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an After School Teacher. As a teacher with our academy, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of elementary school children by teaching them the game of chess.

We provide a comprehensive curriculum and as much paid training as you need to ensure your success in the classroom. Our academy has a proven track record of teaching chess to nearly 100,000 children over the past 18 years, and we are proud to be the official chess academy of Magnus Carlsen, the five-time World Chess Champion.

As an After School Teacher with Magnus Chess Academy, you will be responsible for managing a classroom of 10-20 students, using our curriculum to demonstrate and effectively communicate the basic rules and strategy of chess, promoting good sportsmanship among students, and responsibly storing and maintaining all teaching equipment and materials.

We are looking for an individual who is available to work part-time during after-school hours, beginning in the fall. Experience as a camp counselor, tutor, teacher, coach, after-school instructor, or in preschool or daycare is a plus. You will also need to be comfortable driving and have a flexible schedule.

Additional qualifications include being available at least 3 weekdays during the school year between 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm, having a reliable vehicle for transportation, and the ability to lift 25 lbs of teaching equipment.
