Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Prepare and administer medications, injections, and other treatments as directed by healthcare providers
  • Collect and process lab samples, including phlebotomy and specimen handling
  • Provide patient education on HIV and STI prevention, testing, and treatment options
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, medications, and test results
  • Perform front office duties, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and handling patient inquiries
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinical operations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assisting training program a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHR software, with ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to serve LGBTQIA2S+ and other marginalized communities
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience working as a medical assistant
  • eClinicalWorks EMR experience a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with additional quarterly incentive for bilingual employees
Work Environment

Our office environment is climate-controlled, with minimal safety/health hazard potential. You will be required to walk, sit, stand, and use hands and arms to perform job duties. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
