Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Education & Early Childhood Services Manager and the Classroom Teacher, the Early Childhood Education Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting classroom operations. This position is designed to provide assistance across various Head Start Centers and classrooms as required.

Work Schedule:
This is a 10-month position aligned with the academic calendar.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Teacher in developing and executing a comprehensive educational program that adheres to Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Collaborate with staff to assess and address the individual needs of children.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining a conducive classroom environment, including the arrangement of materials and resources.
  • Help supervise educational outings and recreational events.
  • Engage in classroom activities alongside the Teacher and children.
  • Encourage parental involvement by suggesting ways to utilize parent volunteers effectively.
  • Welcome parents and children warmly, ensuring a smooth transition into the classroom and fostering a positive relationship between home and school.
  • Provide parents with activities to support their child's learning at home, maintaining open and professional communication.
  • Assist in demonstrating effective strategies for parents to reinforce their children's development at home.
  • Maintain accurate records related to child attendance, food programs, and other necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an ECE CDA credential, a state-awarded certificate (such as a Paraprofessional Certificate), or an Associate's Degree (60 college credits) that meets or exceeds CDA requirements. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are advantageous.

Experience:
Applicants should have experience working with preschool-aged children, ideally within Head Start or Early Head Start settings, with a minimum of three years of experience in engaging with young children and their families.
