Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the surgical team, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to ensure the safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and handle surgical instrumentation, supplies, and devices necessary for procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to aseptic techniques.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth and efficient surgical procedures.
  • Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • One year of experience in a surgical setting, preferably in neurosurgery.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Surgical Technology Certification (CST).
  • At least two years of experience in neurosurgery.
  • Acute care operating room experience.

Physical Demands:

The Surgical Technologist must be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods, lift at least 50 pounds, and work in a moderate noise level environment.
