About the Role:
- Manage patient care in the ER and critical care department, ensuring seamless transitions and updates to clients.
- Participate in triage processes, providing exceptional client service and maximizing efficiency.
- Assist with patient stabilization, including IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Patient monitoring and documentation are essential aspects of this role.
- Perform diagnostics and treatments for patients in the Emergency Department.
- Provide thorough discharge instructions and education to clients, addressing home care needs, medication information, and monitoring requirements.
- Maintain open communication with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client interactions, and nursing concerns.
- Technical skills, such as IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, venipuncture, and safe restraint, are necessary for success.
- Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures is crucial for handling client concerns effectively.
- VTS mentorship opportunities are available for professional growth and development.
- Rotating holiday shifts and on-call rotations are part of this full-time position.
- Detailed and accurate medical records must be maintained according to hospital policy.
- A clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards are mandatory.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program completion preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic are essential.
- The ability to adapt to new situations and work collaboratively as a team player is crucial.
